Information online indicates this was a ditty box issued to US Navy sailors during the World War I era. No confirmation of this, and no markings on the box. It is in beautiful condition with lovely dovetail joinings. Has a pull out shelf on top with 4 compartments, revealing a larger compartment beneath. Also, the lid has a panel that folds down, revealing another storage compartment. Beautiful box, with a lot of utility. And history to boot. Measures 14 inches across, 10 inches deep, and 9 inches high. There is a lock in place, but no key. Thanks and enjoy.
