A rare WW1 Royal Flying Corps officers khaki side cap and bronzed badge.
The Royal Flying Corps was formed in 1912 from the Air Battalion of the Royal Engineers, and became the air arm of the British Army in WW1. Being a Corps of the Army, personnel wore khaki, with specific badges, with many seconded to the RFC retaining the insignia of their parent unit.
A lovely, scarce WW1 Royal Flying Corps officers khaki side cap. Overall very good condition, with light wear, in the characteristic whipcord material. It has a honey coloured silk interior, but no visible markings. It is fitted with its original bladed bronzed RFC officers cap badge and General Service buttons to the front. These were quite common, and usually indicate an earlier issue, before widespread issue of RFC buttons and probably its original owner seconded from another Regiment. Slight wear to the lining where the cap badge has rubbed, etc. Laid flat, it measures 26cm front to back. A lovely, scarce cap.
PLEASE NOTE:
1) OVERSEAS BUYERS - Please make sure you select your country of origin BEFORE YOU BID, to show the correct overseas postal rates (usually £3.50 untracked, or £10.50 tracked for a badge). If not, the postal rates you will be shown will be UK domestic rates only. If you pay these from overseas you will be asked to pay the remainder before the item is sent, which will delay the posting of your item. (Ebay don't select the overseas rate for you automatically).
2) IF THE SELLING PRICE IS UNDER £20.00. If the final selling price on a lot (or combined lots) is up to £20.00, you will have the option of untracked or tracked postage (both within the UK and worldwide), please pay the appropriate postage rate.
3) IF THE SELLING PRICE IS BETWEEN £20.00 and £100.00. If the final selling price of a single lot/combined lots is between £20.00 and £100.00, they will only be sent on a tracked service, at the advertised rates.
4) WHERE THE LISTING PRICE IS OVER £20.00. When the start price on a listing is over £20.00, only tracked postal services will be available, at the advertised rates.
5) I am happy to combine postage on multiple lots. If you are bidding on several lots over more than one day (when I list over several days), please message me so I am aware.
6) Ebay have now changed the rule on opening an 'Unpaid Item' case after 48 hours. Now, if an item is not paid for, the sale WILL be cancelled (the only option now available) and ebay will make a note on your account as a 'non-payer'. I expect payment within 48 hours, which I don't think is unreasonable, unless you have made other arrangements with me. If you are unable to pay within that time, please contact me BEFORE the sale.
7) Due to time wasters, if you have less than 10 feedback and want to bid, contact me BEFORE the sale or your bids WILL be cancelled.
8) Postage rates shown on my listings are for postage AND packing.
9) If your items does not arrive, is severely delayed, or there is another problem, please contact me FIRST, before making a complaint to ebay. In almost every case any problem can be sorted without the need to raise a complaint.
Please make sure you pay the appropriate postage for the specific postal service as listed, especiallyfrom outside the UK. IF THE POSTAGE IS UNDERPAID YOU WILL BE ASKED FOR THE DIFFERENCE AND YOUR ITEM WILL NOT BE SENT UNTIL FULL PAYMENT FOR POSTAGE IS RECEIVED! I usually post on the same day payment is made, or the next working day.
IF YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO ACCEPT THESE TERMS PLEASE DO NOT BID
