By 1890, Lauscha glassblowers had perfected the use of forsaken (molds) in their work.

Over the years, the glassblowers of Lauscha reproduced a seemingly limitless number of molds that were made between the 1880s and 1939.

Ornaments with concave reflectors in them would begin as free-blown ornaments. The glassblower would then heat one side over his flame, and with a little plaster mold of the reflector shape he wanted, would carefully press the design to a depth pleasing to the eye.

This particular ornament is predominantly amber in colour with a green and silver concave indent. It has a circumference of approximately 14.5cm. There is some discolouration to the back of the bauble due to its age and wear.
