This is a great 1876 advertising cover and matching stationary / letter. It is marked "Wm. H. Brown & Bro. Wholesale Druggist". This cover includes some great local to MARYLAND / VIRGINIA content. It mentions the "fire" of April 9th, 1876 "James W. Craighill". This letter includes a reference to the similarity to the "Chicago Fire". There is an "E.H.S" (EPISCOPAL HIGH SCHOOL Alexandria) "Base - Ball" reference. There are some other local details, referencing and some great "courting" accounts about the "ladies" of the area and of the times.

The cover is posted May 22 1876 to "Clover Station Halifax Co. Va." with a mostly clear postmark and again great letter content. The letter is very sharp, crisp, clean and neither the entire letter or it's content is completely pictured.

The stamp is faulty.

The cover measures approx. 5 3/4 inches by approx. 3 3/8 inches. The cover is roughly opened along the right edge with a partial "Clover Station" backstamp. The letter / letters (two days) are well written and quite legible.
