This is a beautiful example of an authentic Ken Edwards “KE”studio pottery from Tonalá, Mexico. This mid-sized lidded jar - ginger jar style - features the iconic high-fire stoneware and hand painted motifs that made the El Palomar studio world-famous. Expertly handmade and decorated with a large bird and butterfly to one side and flowers to the other, along with delicate floral sprays, and a butterfly’s to the lid in traditional earth tones. Finished with the signature dove-grey glaze with a contrasting deep brown slip on the rim edges and the lid’s finial handle. Signed to the base KE MEXICO and the individual artisan’s signature, a stylized "S" mark representing the snail or scorpion nahual. Measuring 17cm high including lid, 12.5cm not including lid and 13cm wide at its widest.
