Item/Description: 1909 New York Highlanders Detroit Tigers Scorecard - Ty Cobb Sam Crawford Keeler

This is a scored 1909 Official Score Card for the American League Base Ball Club, played at American League Park (Hilltop Park) in New York, published by Harry M. Stevens and priced at five cents. The scorecard has been filled in pencil for an actual game between the New York Highlanders and the Detroit Tigers. The printed Detroit lineup includes D. Jones, Bush, Cobb, Crawford, Moriarty, Schmidt/Stanage, T. Jones, and O'Leary, with pitchers Summers, Killian, Willett, Mullin, and Donovan listed on the roster. The New York lineup includes Keeler in right field, Chase at first base, Engle in left field, Gardner at second base, Knight at shortstop, Austin at third base, and Warhop as pitcher. Surrounding advertising includes Adams' Pepsin Tutti Frutti, Michelin Tires, Kiffe's sporting goods, Huyler's candies, Clysmic mineral water, Rahe's Café, and the Hotel Marlborough.

The scored lineups document a genuine 1909 meeting between the Detroit Tigers and the New York Highlanders at Hilltop Park. The Tigers roster includes Hall of Famers Ty Cobb and Sam Crawford; 1909 was the season in which Cobb won the American League Triple Crown, leading the league in batting average, home runs, and RBI, while Detroit captured its third consecutive American League pennant. The Highlanders lineup includes Hall of Fame outfielder Willie Keeler, who spent the final seasons of his career with New York. The scorecard is not dated to a specific game within the 1909 season, but the matchup and rosters are consistent with American League Park during that year.
