“Gemischtes Doppel” is a German wordplay memory game, created around 2008 in collaboration with Süddeutsche Zeitung Magazin. There are 72 cards (36 pairs) it the original box.

 It looks like a normal memory game… but it’s much more clever.

 How the game works: I have only 63 cards, sorry, some are miissing

You flip cards and try to find matching pairs

BUT the pairs are not identical images

 Instead, each pair is connected by:

funny word twists

swapped letters

similar-sounding words (like word puzzles)

Example from the cards:

Gartenkunst ↔ Kartengunst

Rasenheizung ↔ Hasenreizung

These are intentional word distortions — funny, absurd, and clever.

This is NOT just a game:

 Combines memory + language + humoBased on a famous German magazine column

 Requires thinking and associations, not just remembering

 Often played by adults (recommended 16+)

 That’s why some cards feel a bit “strange” or surreal — it’s part of the concept.
