Boutel Fil Meteorite | Confirmed 2023 Witnessed Fall

1.095 Gram Fusion-Crusted Individual | LL6 Ordinary Chondrite

Description

Offered here is a beautiful 1.095 gram individual from the recent and highly sought-after Boutel Fil meteorite, officially classified as an LL6 Ordinary Chondrite.

This exceptional specimen retains a beautiful coating of fresh black fusion crust formed during its fiery passage through Earth's atmosphere on July 8, 2023. Recovered shortly after the fall, it remains in outstanding condition with virtually no terrestrial weathering, making it an excellent display specimen and an increasingly difficult meteorite to obtain.

This specimen comes from my personal collection and is one of the last small pieces I have available. In fact, it is the second-to-last small specimen remaining. Small, fusion-crusted individuals from the Boutel Fil fall have become extremely difficult to find, making this a rare opportunity to own a genuine fragment from this historic witnessed fall.

About Boutel Fil

The Boutel Fil meteorite fell on the night of July 8, 2023, producing a meteorite shower over cultivated land near the village of Boutel Fil in Chad. Witnesses observed a brilliant fireball followed by sonic booms, and meteorites were recovered soon afterward, preserving exceptionally fresh material.

Because of the rapid recovery, Boutel Fil specimens exhibit pristine fusion crust and minimal terrestrial weathering, making them highly desirable among collectors and researchers alike. As the supply of small individuals continues to diminish, quality specimens such as this have become increasingly scarce.
