OMICRON® Absorbent Pad or Support Pad is made of 100% non-woven, pure cellulose that can absorb and retain large amount of liquid. They are white cellulose discs that fit into standard petri dishes. It is hydrophilic in nature and located at the downstream end of the test and controls the sample flow along the strip. It reinforces filter membranes to avoid membrane damage from collapsing. These Absorbent Pads can be used as a membrane filter support in OMICRON® Micro Funnel or Filter Holders. When absorbent Pads are saturated with growth medium, they can also be used for culturing microorganisms on membranes. These pads are ideal for culturing using broth media in petri dishes.
