Here is an interesting little document or collectibles box, probably 1880-1890 late victorian , looks to me like its wood with carved composition or gesso similar to the frames of that period , or at least that's what I think it is , its not relief carved wood , plaster or composition of some type with what looks like an ebonized finish, I am going to assume that's original but that I am not sure, I do know has a pretty nice look to it ! , hinges could be tightened , NO KEY ,  could be some loss , look close at the pictures, but overall presents well !
