This is a 1:43 scale diecast model of the Ferrari Formula 1, F500 F2, car driven by the Italian GP driver Alberto Ascari at the 1952 Italian GP.
The 1952 Italian Grand Prix was a Formula Two race held on 7 September 1952 at Monza. It was the eighth and final round of the 1952 World Championship of Drivers, in which each Grand Prix was run to Formula Two rules rather than the Formula One regulations normally used. The 80-lap race was won by Ferrari driver Alberto Ascari after he started from pole position.
The diorama depicts Ascari at the famous (now non-existent) Curva del Porfido (Porphyry Curve), which was the historic predecessor to Monza's famous Parabolica. Prior to 1955, the southern end of the circuit featured two tight hairpins paved with porphyry rock cubes, giving the section its iconic name. It was replaced in 1955 by the flowing, asphalt-paved Parabolica.
This model is from the original Brumm Microworld Autostory diorama series, limited edition:733 out of 1500.
