Description
A Dutch art pottery vase possibly by M De Wit or related Gouda area studio. The vase is of squat baluster form, 6" tall & 7" in diameter. The vase has a turqouise glaze with a Persian or Iznik inspired pattern of chariots & stylized trees in black sgraffito style which mimics 12th/13th century Middle Eastern artifacts. The vase is generally in good condition but does have a foot rim chip (see photo).
Marked on the base 'Asiatic Holland 2502'. There is also an artists monogram which is partially obscured. I would date this vase to early to mid 20thc.
