Sculpture crafted from natural grayish stone with a porous and rough texture. It exhibits small patinas and natural wear indicative of age and a detailed handcrafted finish. The piece has a circular/ovoid shape with a well-defined central perforation, a design characteristic of ceremonial pieces or mace heads from the pre-Columbian period. At the top, a high-relief anthropomorphic/ape-like face (monkey head) stands out, with prominent features on the forehead, sunken eyes, and a prominent nose. Around the central hole, undulating and symmetrical motifs representing snakes or mythical creatures in high relief intertwine, enveloping the circular structure. It displays a marked influence of Chavín iconographic art, characterized by the combination of zoomorphic motifs (snakes, apes/felines) and anthropomorphic figures intertwined with a profound mystical and ritual character. The anthropomorphic or ape-like head (with human features mixed with those of a monkey) is characterized by prominent eyebrows, sunken eyes, a wide nose, and a serious mouth in relief. The undulating bodies represent intertwined or mythical serpents whose sinuous bodies twist and cross around the central hole. The lower and lateral ends correspond to the bodies or tails of the serpents (or limbs of the mythical being), which fold back over the base of the stone, completing the circular design.
