For sale here is an original mid-century Swedish educational wall chart of a
HIPPOPOTAMUS 

This is a beautifully illustrated chart depicting a  family of hippopotamus in their natural river habitat.
 This striking lithographic print was produced for use in classrooms across Europe by Gunnar Saietz, Stockholm, and retains its original linen backing, black wooden hanging rollers, and publisher’s labels.

Dating to approximately 1948–1950, the chart is part of the Främmande Länders Djur (“Animals of Foreign Lands”) educational series.

A wonderful piece of vintage educational history and an eye-catching decorative artwork for interiors inspired by mid-century design, natural history, or safari themes.

Printed using off set lithography and  illustrated by  Sven Ekblom  (1898-1987) who was a wildlife illustrator who specialised in producing educational natural history artwork during the mid-1900s.

The key is in English, French, Swedish, Spanish, and German.
 

This chart has spent most of its life rolled up in a school cupboard so the colours are still vibrant.

CONDITION
This chart is not new, so please be sure to check all photos.
There is some wear consistent with 75 years of use.
