Some Basic Soldering Skills Are Required And Be Able To Disassemble The Atari 7800. There Are Numerous Online Videos To Assist You With This Wonderful Rewarding Journey.   1. Disassemble Your Atari 7800 – (5) Screws From Backside Which You’ll Replace With New Shorter Stainless Screws Included With Kit. Do Not Use Power Drivers To Remove, They Can Cause Damage.

  2. Remove The No Longer Needed RF Shielding And Dis-guard It. You Will Need Needle Nose Pliers To Adjust Tabs For Removal.

  3. Replace Radial Capacitors [C22] - 220 µF 16v, [C61] - 220 µF 16v, [C62] - 2200 µF 16v Note: You May Receive Higher Voltage Capacitors Which Is Okay. High Quality Replacements. Note That Dark Strip On The Capacitors Are (-) And The Long Leg Of Capacitors Are (+) - The Board Will Be Marked.

  4. Replace [VR1] - +5V Regulator: 7805 | L7805ACV - High Quality Replacement. Remove Cart Guide First To Remove Screw | Nut From Heat Sink Plate. You Will Additional Add (2) New Heat Sinks To Each Side Of Nut After Replacing New Voltage Regulator – Nut Facing Side Of Plate.

  5. Replace [Q10] - Transistor MJE210 CO18094 - High Quality Replacement. Note That The Dark Side Of Transistor Faces To The Outside Of The Board.

  6. Replace Button Switches [S1], [S2], [S5], [S6] - High Quality Replacement. De-solder From Backside.

  7. Proactive MOD Tie Strap Down [J5] Power Socket. Run Tie Down Strap Thru Alignment Holes And Pull Tightly.

  8. Replace [J1] Cartridge Guide With Modified Guide – Allows For All Game Cartridges – Remove Screws From Backside Of Board – They will Have Tape Covering Screw Heads.
