The large turreted structure at left, likely connected to the royal domain, and the distant casino or grand hotel complex on the right speak to Ostende's status as one of Europe's most fashionable Edwardian beach destinations. Published by "Le Bon, édit., Ostende," one of the most prolific local postcard publishers of the era, and numbered 98 in his Ostende series, this undivided-back card with bilingual Belgian reverse was never mailed — a mint example from a golden age of seaside tourism. The card's undivided back with both French and Dutch address conventions places it firmly in the pre-1907 period.
