The Excel59SolidBlack is a 16-inch (406.4mm) wide, 1.75-inch (44.45mm) thick hollow-body guitar with an original single-cutaway shape, based on a design created by John D'Angelico in 1959, but with modern specifications.
The original pickguard, characteristic of D'Angelico's style, features a 5-ply tortoise shell pattern.
Binding adorns the body top, headstock, and neck, and combined with the striking mother-of-pearl abalone split-block position markers, the design gives a chic and gorgeous impression.
The body features a spruce top and maple sides and back, while the maple-walnut-maple neck has an ebony fingerboard.
It employs a 25-inch (635mm) scale length, and the neck has a strong 3-piece construction with walnut sandwiched between maple, making it resistant to warping and twisting, and features a set-neck joint. Furthermore, it features a dual-action truss rod, adjustable at the headstock.
The distinctive headstock design continues D'Angelico's tradition.
