About 5 1/2" high x 6 1/4" across the handle and spout.

DESCRIPTION

Attractive French Savoy slip-decorated earthenware pitcher with traditional jaspe marbled decoration in green, brown and ochre glazes. Hand-thrown with applied strap handle and pouring lip.  Probably used for milk, water, cider or wine.  Unglazed base.

CONDITION

Overall excellent.  No cracks or repairs.  Colors bright and unfaded.  Some glaze wear around the rim, and a small chip inside the spout (all visible in the images).  A BEAUTIFULLY DRAMATIC EXAMPLE OF EARLY FRENCH RUSTIC COUNTRY JASPE WARE!
