The Republic Mine is a massive, inactive iron ore mine located in Republic, Michigan, within Marquette County of the Upper Peninsula. Once one of the country's top iron producers, the site has been transformed into a wildlife preserve and is notable for having the only open-pit mine observation site in Michigan open for free public viewing.
