**** "Marvadiya" was a subsidiary and carpet workshop that operated in the early days of "Bezalel" in Jerusalem, and which was the continuation of the school's original carpet department. It operated under Boris Schatz's vision of combining Jewish art with manual labor.
The carpets were characterized by oriental design combined with Zionist, Jewish and biblical elements (such as "Song of Songs" carpets and frames with verses and sayings).
The colors used by the weavers were mainly delicate pastels.
The items are now considered rare and highly valued as antique collectibles of early Israeli art, and usually bear the stamp of "Bezalel" or "Marvadia".
