Vintage Pyrene Brass Fire Extinguisher

Around 1912 Pyrene pioneered the carbon tetrachloride or CTC extinguisher, these extinguishers projected the liquid from a brass or chrome container by hand pump, onto the fire.

This is a lovely example of the Type 1, one quart brass version of the iconic Pyrene fire extinguisher.

The engraved plate to the front of these is a work of art on its own.

The handle is stamped 65 which dates it as 1965.

Its clearly had a hard life and has small dents (and a bigger one towards the base) and scratches all over the main cylinder (please see photos), but overall its in good complete condition.

I've given it a quick polish and it has come up very well, but may benefit from a further polish to bring it up even further.

It is empty and discharged of its contents and its now safe and empty (please see 'plunger out' photo).

 Supplied without bracket.

 Length approx 14" (35.5cm).

A lovely piece of history and ready to display as a quirky room prop, classic car owner/collector accessory or an addition to a garage or man cave.
