Antique English fusee wall clock dating to the mid to late 19th century, circa 1860 to 1890.
This is a classic Victorian school or office dial clock with an original painted iron dial signed Deacon Luton. The clock is housed in a solid mahogany round case with its original convex glass.
The clock is fitted with a single fusee eight day time only movement, typical of quality English clocks of this period. The movement features heavy brass plates, turned pillars and a large pendulum bob.
Condition
The dial is original with heavy age related crazing and surface wear consistent with age. There is paint loss around the center and to the signature area as shown in the photographs. The mahogany case is solid with age cracks, wear and patina from long use. The original convex glass is present. The bottom access door and hinges are intact.
Mechanical condition
The clock runs briefly but does not keep time and will require servicing or repair. It is being sold as found and as shown. No guarantees are made regarding accuracy or reliability.
The clock includes the winding key and the door key.
This clock has not been restored, repainted or refinished and remains in original condition. Please review all photographs carefully as they form part of the description.
