The date on this ad hand fan was based on its patent.  The Hager Store is still in business today.  I have listed a later Hager fan.  The "Plain Clothing" refers to:  the traditional, modest, non-fashion-oriented dress worn by Lancaster County’s Plain sects, primarily:

·         Old Order Mennonites

·         Brethren / River Brethren groups

      ·         Other Anabaptist “Plain People” communities.
