These high-quality pewter figurines are lovingly handcrafted by Gerhard Urbanke and Imke Behrens in their Vienna Miniatures Workshop—from the design stage through casting and polishing to painting.

Urbanke is one of the last, if not the very last, commercial pewter figurine painters in Austria. Every piece—whether a soldier, another figure, or Christmas ornaments, is designed by him. First, he paints a sketch, then engraves the mold into slate stone. “That then becomes the mold in which the pewter figures are cast,” says Urbanke. Afterwards, they are painted—also entirely by hand, so every piece is unique.

They meet the highest standards of artistic craftsmanship and are directly connected to the historically significant cultural metropolis.

"The tin figure makes history understandable. This sums up my philosophy rather well. Not only do I represent historical events with tin figures, but tin is also a material for making simple decorative objects eg. for Christmas. A high percentage of our figures are cast in slate moulds. Once painted, the figures come to life."
