This auction is for a vintage Oasis 2-quart water canteen. We tested the cooler by filling it with water and did not observe any leaks anywhere (though cap must be screwed on tightly). The canteen weighed nearly 5 lbs when it was filled with water. The canteen is marked OASIS 2 QT. We are unsure as to how old the canteen is but believe it to be vintage 1950s or 1960s (it came from an estate with other camping/hiking type items from this period). The canteen has a wool covering that is wrapped around a plastic vessel. The canteen also has a galvanized metal frame as well as an attached canvas carrying strap. The screw-cap is made of metal and attached to a small chain which is attached to the frame. The screw-cap is in working order and operates as it should. The canteen measures roughly 7 1/2” in diameter not including the spout and is roughly 3 1/4” thick. The canteen weighs just over 12 ounces when empty. The canteen has aging, scratches, nicks, and dirty and/or stained areas (see pictures). The canvas strap has yellowing, aging, and dirty and/or stained marks throughout. This vintage Oasis 2-quart water canteen is sure to be a nice addition to your collection.
