CHAI YUKINOBU No:30 Alto Guitar 2014
Description
Items priced at 30,000 yen or more (tax included)
"Chai Kobo" is a famous violin and guitar manufacturer. Yukinobu Chai opened his workshop in 1955 and produced numerous works until his death in 2011. After his passing, his son, Yukihiro Chai, took over the workshop. This instrument is a No:30 alto guitar, a used item from 2014. It features a spruce top, rosewood sides and back, mahogany neck, ebony fingerboard, rosewood bridge, original mosaic rosette, rosewood binding, and a cutaway. Alto guitars are rarely seen, but they are played with a higher tuning than regular guitars. The tuning is BEADF#B from the 6th string. This is a fifth higher than standard tuning, equivalent to a capo on the 7th fret. It also features a cutaway, making it easy to play comfortably in the higher positions. This guitar, while small and with a short string length, tends to have a smaller volume, but the tension is increased by tightening the strings. This makes it easier to produce volume and a vibrant sound. It features a straightforward, resonant tone with a clear core and an open sound. While it doesn't have the deep resonance of some other guitars due to its higher pitch, it has a light and pleasant tone that's easy to play. This instrument can sometimes play high notes in an ensemble, and it possesses a unique sound that can only be achieved with this style. Of course, it's also great for solo playing. This is a charming guitar crafted by a Japanese luthier. There is a small dent near the waist on the 6th string side of the body top, and some very light scratches overall, but it shows relatively little signs of use and remains in beautiful condition. The neck is in good condition and plays well. It's an excellent instrument that maintains ease of use. The simple and understated design, which evokes the warmth of the wood, is also appealing. A high-quality, domestically produced, handcrafted alto guitar. If you've been looking for one, please act quickly.
