A fine puukko knife & sheath from the 1960's.
Designed by Tapio Wirkkala and produced by Hackman.
The puukko comprising a stainless steel blade, brass fittings, and a black nylon handle, and accompanied by a leather sheath with a bear paw motif. The blade and sheath both have leather straps.
Wirkkala (b. 1915 - d. 1985) was an influential and internationally recognized Finnish designer and artist during the 20th Century. He was highly versatile and worked in a wide variety of mediums throughout his life, including glass, porcelain, wood, metal, as well as sculpture and graphic design.
The puukko is a traditional Finnish general purpose knife with a single curved cutting edge and a full hidden tang. They are generally carried in sheathes and have 4 inch or smaller blades. Puukko are considered "everyday knives" used for all variety of tasks including hunting, fishing, and gardening.
Stamped to the blade for Hackman / Finland / Stainless / Tapio Wirkkala.
By repute, only 1600 of these were made, and this is the larger 4 inch blade variety.

Overall Condition:
It is in overall fair, as-pictured, used estate condition.
Condition Details:
There are a few very small nicks to the blade (particularly to the cutting edge and printed side), and some blemishes and scratches to the handle.
The sheath's belt loop has a tear to the middle, expected scratches and wear to the leather sheath, and the concave tip of the sheath appears to be missing a small amount of leather.
Otherwise, there are some fine & light surface scratches and other signs of expected light wear consistent with age.
