This is an unusual and well-made early woodworking vise that appears to have been used by a cabinetmaker, patternmaker, carpenter, or other craftsman. The movable jaw rides on steel guide bars and is tightened by a substantial steel screw operated through the wooden handle assembly. The vise retains a wonderful untouched workshop patina developed through years of use.

The jaws show honest wear from service, and the wood has darkened beautifully with age. Brass wear plates protect high-stress areas, and the steel components retain their original aged finish. The handle is marked “PC,” likely an owner’s initials.

A great addition to any collection of antique woodworking tools, Americana, country store displays, or early shop equipment.
