The Hot Wheels '57 Chevy continued to appear through the early 1980s using the same basic tooling first introduced in the late-1970s Blackwall era. The 1981 Hong Kong issue with GW (Gold Wheels) belongs to the early “Hot Ones” wheel period when Mattel experimented with faster rolling axles and gold-coloured hub wheels.
