A pleasing pair of vintage sterling silver drop earrings in a hollow puffed teardrop form, the domed front face engraved with a foliate spray and bordered by a neatly punched dot border running around the full perimeter of each drop. The combination of the rounded sculptural form and the hand-engraved surface decoration gives them a warmth and tactility that flat-cut pieces rarely achieve.

The style and construction are consistent with British silver earring production of the 1970s, when hollow puffed drops of this format were a popular output from Birmingham workshops. Both earrings hang from silver shepherd's hook wires stamped 925, and the pair is unsigned beyond the silver mark.
