HISTORY

Maher Studios, a legendary name in ventriloquism began in 1934 with Fred Maher creating accessible mail-order training. 

The Detweiler Era (1969-2006)

• New Ownership: Clinton and Adelia Detweiler purchased the studio in 1969, significantly expanding its offerings and prominence creating and customizing his own style and line of ventriloquist dummies.
• Growth & Resources: Clinton Detweiler became a pillar of the community, building figures, creating innovative training, newsletters (like The Maher Messenger), and mentoring many performers.

This 1967 Danny O'Day head has been customized with hair, makeup and mounted on a control stick.

The body is a hollow cardboard body with full arms and legs and upgraded hands 

The controls are operated by the levers on the head stick from inside the hard shell hollow body. 

Includes comb-able hair

EYE BROWS will go up when you move the lever, but will not return down automatically (NEEDS REPAIR).  

EYES will move left when you move the lever and move right when you move the lever.  They are not self centering!

WIG was only taped on to allow easy access to the service door and after all these years is loose and should be re-attached more securely AFTER repairs are completed

** NOTE: THIS IS A RARE COLLECTOR'S ITEM.     According to Clinton Detweiler's son, Kevin, the Female Danny Conversions were special custom 'made-to-order' deluxe upgrades made in the 1970's.  You can see them advertised in the Maher Catalogs from the 1970's (SEE LAST PHOTO).  If you remove the wig and put on shorter male hair it can easily be converted back to a male dummy if you prefer

DONT BE FOOLED: Sellers copy headers from other sellers all the time without confirming what they have actually matches.  Clinton Detweiler/Maher Studios dummies from the 1970's-80's used unique head stick control levers and string (see photos) as well as many had hand painted eyes.  Back in the 1970's-80's they DID NOT use the white plastic lever you see on many more recent upgraded dummies - This has been confirmed by Kevin Detweiler, Clinton's son.
