HISTORY / PROVENANCE

This amplifier was acquired directly from the original owner, who stated that it was maintained as a backup amplifier within his audio system. Based on its overall condition, this history appears consistent with the way the amplifier presents today.

SERVICE & TESTING

To prepare the amplifier for sale, the meter illumination was professionally serviced using the correct original-specification 12V 150mA lamps to preserve the factory appearance and warm meter illumination.  The feet were also refreshed.  The original feet will be included (see photos).

The amplifier was subsequently professionally bench tested and verified fully functional. A copy of the service invoice is included in the listing photos.

ABOUT THE TFM-55x

The Carver TFM-55x is one of the most sought-after amplifiers in the Carver lineup and was THX certified by Lucasfilm. Reported production numbers are extremely low, making these difficult to find, particularly in this level of cosmetic and operational condition.

COSMETIC CONDITION

The faceplate, cabinet, meters, controls, and chassis present extremely well for a vintage amplifier of this age.

Minor cosmetic signs of normal age and use may be present, but overall the amplifier remains exceptionally clean and highly presentable. The warm illuminated meters give the amplifier the classic appearance that made these units famous.
