Alvarez Yairi DY-95N T.O.L 1976
Description
Products priced at 30,000 yen or more (tax included)
Yairi Guitars, based in Gifu Prefecture, continues to manufacture guitars by hand, with a focus on quality. Their concept is to create guitars that are loved across generations, with designs that never fade with age and tones that deepen with use. Currently, they produce about 20 guitars a day with a team of approximately 30 people. They also produce the flagship model for the overseas brand Alvarez, under the name AlvarezYairi. This particular instrument is the DY-95T.O.L, a special edition of the flagship model based on the D-45. It is a used 1976 model. Features include a spruce top, jacaranda sides and back, mahogany neck, ebony fingerboard & bridge, Grover Rotomatic gold tuners, a Tree of Life pearl fingerboard inlay running from the headstock to the end of the fingerboard, abalone trim, original headstock inlay, tortoiseshell pickguard, adjustable truss rod, and non-scalloped X-bracing. The D-45, the eternal dream of acoustic guitar players, is the inspiration for this guitar, which incorporates the essence of Yairi Guitars. Featuring the Tree of Life logo, it boasts a look that can only be described as top-of-the-line. Many will remember longing for one back in the day. It embodies the good old folk sound with its straightforward and honest tone, possessing the clean sound characteristic of Japanese-made guitars, and the slightly thicker, stronger sound typical of guitars from this era. And it lives up to its looks with its dazzling brilliance, resonant rumble, and long sustain. When played with a pick, it produces a crisp, clear outline and articulate sound, with a clear and bright tone that is versatile enough to suit any playing style or genre. There are repaired cracks between the fretboard and soundhole on both the 6th and 1st string sides, but they have been carefully repaired with patches from the back. There are signs of crack repair near the end of the body on the treble side, near the waist, but these have been repaired with adhesive only and are not easily noticeable at a glance. The bridge pin grooves have been cut to increase tension. Other signs of wear include a cloudy paint finish on the headstock, dents and scratches throughout the body, some slightly deeper scratches, fine scratches, and a dent on the back of the neck that appears to be from a capo. While there are signs of use commensurate with its age, this instrument is still perfectly playable. Due to its age, the saddle has almost no remaining material, but it still maintains modern playability. This is a historically significant Japanese-made model that delivers a robust sound. It features now-rare materials and rare ornamentation. Please experience it for yourself.
A general-purpose hard case is included.
