DESCRIPTION

Stylized zoomorphic effigy antler carving, probably representing a fish, eel, or serpent-like creature. Incised oval eye, long tapered snout, and repeated chip-carved notches along the edges are deliberate decorative elements, appearing to represent the head and scaled body.  Carved from a naturally curved section of caribou antler.  Probably a fetish or token rather than a working tool.  Likely Inuit / Inupiat or Yup'ik Alaskan origin.

CONDITION

Overall very good.  Structurally sound and complete.  No defects noted.  Well oxidized surface and carvings attest to age (all visible in the images).
