DESCRIPTION

Attributed to Inuit, possibly Yup'ik.  Human effigy spirit face, surmounted by carvings of a salamander and turtle above, and a humanoid spirit image below.  Drilled or carved eye and mouth openings.  Could have been used as a plaque, grain scoop, or mask-like adornment.

CONDITION

Overall very good.  Structurally sound and complete.  No defects noted.  Well oxidized surface and carvings attest to age (all visible in the images).
