This 'Child Reading' sculpture is a substantial mantle piece, and not for just any mantle. It is 18" in height and comes in at just over 21 pounds in weight. We are guessing the medium is Marble but are not 100% certain. It is a recognizable Napleon II style based on a model by Charles-Gabriel Sauvage. The child sculpture was known as Lemire (1742-1827). It was created in the Late 19th century. We do not know the date of this reproduction. It likely is some time in the mild 20th century if we are to trust the information provided us by the serving estate family members and there isn't any reason we shouldn't. We will be listing other pieces of art form this estate over the next several weeks. There are no cracks, chips or even any flea bites on this sculpture. It doesn't appear to have had any yellowing either. Very vibrant white. It spent the last 70 years here in Southern California. The family reported no storage/garage time, spending the last 70 years indoors.
