Sugi is a leading manufacturer of high-end Japanese basses.
Master builder Makoto Sugimoto's wood selection, production ideas,
experience, and skills, along with his superbly meticulous finish and originality, are recognized worldwide.
Skilled craftsmen carefully select rare and precious woods, maximizing the inherent qualities of each material, aiming for the highest level of sound and visual appeal. To ensure a stress-free playing experience that allows the player to concentrate on creating music, each instrument is meticulously finished and set up by the luthier, including the neck grip, ball-edge frets, and rounded fingerboard sides.
Based on the RMGUSA, created by builder Tim Wilson, who has worked on numerous high-end guitars, this Japanese-made instrument is completed at Sugi's leading workshop.
The Rainmaker, without using precious woods like the previous DS496, focuses purely on playability, and its quality is proven by its use by various artists.
The moderately powerful rear humbucker can be coil-tapped by pulling up the tone pot.
While it sounds good as a rear single-coil, mixing it with the front pickup brings out a brighter, more sparkling sound. When driven, its characteristic dry tone emerges, creating a wide range with a solid body and a slightly wild, sustained sound.
The way it bites when heavily distorted is also excellent.
The front pickup is a TL-type pickup.
This specification is also typical of RMG.
The thick, sweet tone can be controlled with the tone knob to produce a thick sound reminiscent of a humbucker.
This sweet tone, unlike that of a typical single-coil, is incredibly captivating.
While feeling the mid-range richness characteristic of alder wood, you can also feel the sustain and wildness—a sound truly unique to this model.
This is a guitar you'll want to fully appreciate.
