DEPICTING A HORSE AND CART.

Anthony Amos was born in Bristol in 1950. At the age of 16 he joined the Merchant Navy and spent the next twenty five years at sea working on trawlers, tugs and deep-sea cargo ships.

In 1984 he decided to pursue a career as an artist, going on to study Fine Art at Manchester College of Art and The Royal West of England Academy, and Art and Aesthetics at Cardiff University thereafter practising art full-time.

Although he is remembered primarily as a marine artist, ships and the sea were not his only subjects. He approached many varied subjects, often inspired by the Devon countryside where he lived, men and women working on the land and men and horses working together pulling ploughs.
