Used Yamaha LL-33J (late model), the flagship model at the time. (Fukuoka store)

Description

Model Overview
YAMAHA, a leading Japanese brand beloved by many artists both domestically and internationally.
Starting with the Dynamic Guitar, and progressing through the FG series,
in 1974, the L Luxury series was born as the top-of-the-line model.

Among them, the so-called "Four Heavenly Kings of the L" that appeared the following year
are still highly popular and coveted as iconic Yamaha acoustic models.

This instrument is the LL-33J, the flagship model of that era, following in the footsteps of the L53, one of the Four Heavenly Kings, and continuing the lineage to the current LL36.
This is a used item manufactured between the start of production in 1994 and the end of production in 2004.

The serial number XZ306J alone indicates a 2022 production year, and the fact that it's a six-digit number makes determining the exact year difficult.

There is a gap between the back plate and the L-block when viewed from the soundhole, so it is considered a later model.

The specifications include a high-quality spruce top, rosewood sides and back, a one-piece mahogany neck, and an ebony fingerboard and bridge.
It features elegant decorations befitting a flagship model, such as original pearl inlays and abalone rosette trim.
The entire body is finished with high-quality lacquer, and its high-quality texture is one of its attractions.

The L53, born in 1975, underwent a model change in 1980, resulting in early and late models with different specifications, and then evolved into the LL53D. Then, in 1994, this LL-33J was added to the lineup.

Developed to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the L series, it is an ambitious model that condenses the technology and know-how accumulated up to that point.

Production ended in 2004, passing the baton to its successor, the LL36, making it a short-lived but highly accomplished instrument.

Structurally, it incorporates unique designs characteristic of the time, such as asymmetrical X-bracing intersections, scalloped bracing, and an L-shaped block at the neck joint.
The design philosophy, aiming for deep bass, beautiful treble, and an overall rich sound, is strongly reflected.
The top wood uses high-grade spruce, different from the Engelmann spruce commonly found in current models.
It features a core tone characteristic of dense wood, and a clear, resonant sound.
It offers a balanced tone that sits between the powerful, expansive sound of previous models and the softer, airier sound of recent years.
The scalloped bracing provides excellent responsiveness and rich volume, making it suitable for a wide range of playing styles, from delicate touches to dynamic performances.
The slightly rounded, thick bass and polished, sparkling treble coexist, resulting in a guitar that combines the charms of both old and new. Condition
While it's difficult to pinpoint the exact year of manufacture, this guitar is at least 20 years old, placing it in the vintage category.
Considering this, the exterior condition is excellent, suggesting it has been well cared for.

Overall, there are minor scratches and signs of use, but no significant damage that would drastically detract from its appearance.
There is some clouding on a small part of the side, but this does not affect its functionality.

The neck currently has a slight forward bow within a reasonable range, resulting in good playability.
The saddle depth is approximately 2mm, which is somewhat low, but it is perfectly usable with the current setup.

The string height at the 12th fret is approximately 2.5mm on the 6th string side and 2.0mm on the 1st string side, a standard and well-balanced setting.

In terms of sound, it has the impression of having been played and aged well, resulting in a mature tone that combines fullness and smoothness.

Overall, it is in excellent condition, suggesting it has been stored in a favorable environment, making it a guitar we can confidently recommend.
