If you own a NorthStar Horizon — or you're working toward one — this lot was made for you. Everything here came from the same collection, used together on a working Horizon system, and has stayed together ever since. You won't have to hunt down pieces separately.
The NorthStar Horizon was one of the most significant microcomputers ever built — one of the first personal computers with built-in floppy drives, introduced in 1977 at a time when most hobbyists were still toggling in programs by hand. Hard-sector disks and original documentation for these machines are increasingly scarce. This lot covers the hardware reference, the software, the migration path off the machine to IBM, and even a place to keep it all organized.
What's included:
Manual:
NorthStar HSIO-4 Horizon Serial Input/Output Four Port — User/Technical Manual (part no. 00187C) — original NorthStar printed booklet with full color cover, complete. Essential reference for anyone running or restoring a Horizon with serial peripherals. Shows light wear consistent with age but fully intact and readable.
NorthStar Floppy Disks (all 5.25" hard-sector format):
North Star Horizon Diskette — Release 4, 1978 — original North Star Computers Inc. system disk, serial 88 78. One of the oldest pieces in the lot.
"N. Star Data Converter" — Verbatim 10D, handwritten label
"NS Data Disk to transfer to PC" — handwritten green label
"The Benchmark Word Processor 2.0 / Televideo & TI-810 / North Star 5.1DQ" — 3M disk
"Games I DD" — North Star Computers branded label
"Game I-Go" — handwritten label
"NS CPM" — Ectype/Syncom disk #15425
Migration Documentation (New World Systems, Copyright 1986):
NorthStar-to-IBM Conversion Kit Overview — 4-page packet describing the complete
7-disk conversion kit including baZic86, NSCOPY, MEX communications, PROCOMM 2.3, and NSSIM
NorthStar-to-IBM Cable Diagram — 2-page packet with complete RS-232 pinout diagrams for both 25-pin-to-25-pin and 25-pin-to-9-pin connections between the Horizon and an IBM PC
Storage:
PerfectData 5.25" floppy disk storage case — flip-top hard plastic case, empty and ready to house your disks. Shows normal wear and light scratching on the lid but fully functional.
All disks sold untested/as-is — NorthStar hard-sector disks require a functioning Horizon or compatible S-100 system to read.
Manual and documentation packets are complete and in good readable condition with expected age-related wear.
Ships carefully packed and protected.
