BEAUTIFUL ORIGINAL WILLIAM HENRY CHANDLER (1854-1928) STILL LIFE PASTEL

DESCRIPTION

Richly colored antique still life pastel on paper, mounted to artist's panel, of grapes, peaches and pears in a tabletop setting with a tall vase and foliage in the background.  Clearly signed lower left "Chandler."  Framed in a beautiful mahogany veneered frame, probably the original, with a gilt liner.

CONDITION

Overall very good. Colors bright and unfaded. Some minor mold stains around the edges (all visible in the images).  Displays beautifully, ready to hang. 

William Henry Chandler was among the best-known American pastel artists of the late 19th and early 20th century. Working from studios in New York and New Jersey, Chandler produced highly decorative landscape and still-life compositions that remain widely collected today. During periods of heavy demand, works were also produced within the Chandler studio tradition and signed under the Chandler name.
