The item

Since its debut in 2001, Villeroy&Boch's NewWave collection, sometimes referred to simply as "Wave" has remained a crowd favourite for its bold, innovative design. It's so special that it's now become a collector's item as a stunning example of 21st Century German design.

This fabulous mug, saucer-plate and stainless steel spoon, are superb examples of how NewWave challenges traditional tableware by ditching predictable round shapes in favour of asymmetrical forms, inspired by the natural curves and motion of ocean waves.

Villeroy&Boch believe that one of the most groundbreaking features of the range is this award-winning signature mug, which has been created from a single continuous piece of porcelain; this means that the handle isn’t glued on, but is seamlessly formed as part of the cup.

Sometimes, design can get in the way of practical use, but NewWave is a successful blend of art and function. You may just want to display the set as a pleasing example of 21st Century design, but if you decide to use it for a cuppa and a biscuit, it works,

The mug also comes with a ground breaking teaspoon design, part of a NewWave flatware range that enjoys sleek lines and an ergonomic shape which, in this case, is cleverly balanced to hang over the side of the mug. It's fashioned out of 18/10 quality stainless steel.

Condition

Very good. We're not allowed to describe an item as being 'as good as new' but we see no evidence of its age or use. There are no chips or cracks or anything else untoward.

Pricing

Whenever possible our asking prices are based on either our knowledge of the genre or on what similar pieces have actually been sold for on the international market, rather than what some sellers are asking, which are usually two very different things!

You will normally find that our prices sit somewhere in the middle between auction and professional dealer prices and we are always willing to consider realistic offers.

Shipping

We have a 100pc success rate for over a decade of successfully shipping fragile ceramics and glassware across the UK and the wider World.

We only charge what the Post Office and couriers charge us.

International shipping? Since Covid, we have started to use eBay's Global Shipping Programme because it has proved to be competitive and reliable. It also takes care of the international paperwork, which is helpful for buyers and sellers at a time when international tariffs keep changing. However the set will ship under 2kg so if you would prefer to use the Royal Mail's Airmail service please call us for a price before buying.
