Hand painted antique German beer glass, often called a Humpen or Krug. This particular design is a common motif found on various types of breweriana, including ceramic steins and glassware. The hand-painted text on the glass is in German: Oh, old glory of youth, where have you vanished?". It is the opening line of a famous German student song (Studentenlied) that expresses nostalgia for the freedom and joy of university life.
Originally this was attached to a pewter base. Remnants of glue or ? around perimeter of base. No cracks no chips.
