The Momose Standard Series has been renewed in 2026.
The pickups, capacitors, fretboard side inlays, jack, fretboard radius, bridge, and headstock logo have all been updated.
The overall design has been modernized.
In terms of sound changes, it produces a clearer, more defined attack.
The crisp, bright sound with prominent highs from the ash body and maple neck is truly representative of this shape.
Even with the modern renewal, respect for the original remains.
The Traditional Series, which has been available since 2011, is handcrafted one by one by a small team of skilled craftsmen at the Asuka Factory in Nagano Prefecture. While cherishing the structure and philosophy of vintage guitars, it pursues reliability and perfection that modern players can use with confidence in the field.
The MT series is Momose's original model, based on the authentic TL style but incorporating unique improvements to playability and practicality. This particular model features a 2-piece ash body and maple fingerboard, resulting in excellent attack and a clear, transparent tone. Compared to an alder body, it offers faster response and a well-defined sound, making it exceptionally easy to use for both cutting and chord work.
The sound tends to have a slightly forward midrange.
Especially in the half-tone position (rear pickup), it produces a Telecaster-like high end while maintaining a solid, thick midrange, resulting in a slightly fuller, more robust sound.
When distorted, the sound becomes even thicker, making it incredibly versatile, effortlessly handling both chords and lead playing.
The neck features a renowned C-shape profile for comfortable gripping, and a satin finish provides a smooth feel. Position changes are smooth, making it less tiring even during long playing sessions.
The neck joint is based on a traditional plate joint, but the plate is recessed into the body to reduce stress during playing. The fingerboard features wood binding made from the same material, providing both a pleasant feel and stability around the frets.
The body has a contoured waist, resulting in a very comfortable and close fit against the body.
The pickups are the newly developed Awake Pickups, created in conjunction with the Momose renewal. Alnico 4 is used in the neck position and Alnico 5 in the bridge position, clearly expressing the desired sound image for each position. Centralab oil capacitors are used in the tone circuit, achieving responsiveness and a three-dimensional sound.
Other features include Luminlay side dots for visibility on dark stages and a Puretone jack with excellent contact reliability, demonstrating a commitment to practical performance. The fingerboard radius is a slightly flatter 310R, making it easy to accommodate low string action settings and allowing for flexible handling of technical playing.
