Wonderful Merv Taylor (Hollywood) magic kit in original box that measures 7 1/4" x 9 3/4" x 3 1/2". Taylor died in 1974, so this box is probably from the 1950s or 60s, and I can't find any others like it online. Seems to include at least 3 different tricks:

1) Bob Haskell's "Deep Freeze", sort of a jello-making-sticking trick, two tumblers and plastic plate, which is broken in half but another could be used instead. With instructions.

2) "E-Z Hat Loader," hat not included as issued but includes a large cup with secret hole in the side, an inner glass (with wear to paint inside), a life-like looking egg, confetti ("woffle dust") and also some streamers. With instructions.

3) "Hot Spot" in original box, no instructions. From online: "The wand is pushed into the block, but it does not come out the other end. Almost like a 'black hole'."

Good condition in original box, plastic plate is broken in half, glass has wear to inner paint, other items with light wear as shown. Box is a little dusty and instruction sheets are wrinkled. Confetti is still intact in original bag.

From Geniimagazine: Taylor started out teaching art, metalcraft, electrical shop and mechanical drawing. He also did some work for the government, but in 1940 a magician performing at the school took one of his broken props to Merv to fix, which sparked an interest in magic. By 1945, Taylor, who found the magic business more fun than teaching, moved to the San Fernando Valley and went into fixing and creating magic props exclusively. With three of his brothers and a few friends, he built a shop with a retail store in 1948 called [Merv Taylor Magic]. With Bill Larsen, he help start the Southern California Magic Dealer Association and was its first president, and two years later, was president of the national Magic Dealers Association.
