 You are looking at a rarer and unique variant of the 1950's Electro Voice 2nd generation 630 microphone. This particular model was sold under license by E.V and sold under the Auricon brand name. They called it the model E-7. Electro Voice sold a few of it's mics to other companies such as Rauland Borg, Pierce, Auricon and Dukane to name a few. This mic comes with the short cable shown in which to operate. It has been tested and has a perfect working element.

 Pic # 2 shows this very design in an old 1950's E.V catalog but almost all 1950's era 630 model mics were set at high impedance. This E-7 was specifically set at low impedance. If you need a good low Z 630 variant then this will get job done.

 I have seen quite a few different labels on a 630 type mic before but only about one dozen or so by this company. I'm not sure the origins or history of Auricon but they seemed to have been a fairly popular electronics company back at that time. They sold an E-6 model set at Hi Z but again, this E7 is Low Z.

 These were originally manufactured as a "general purpose" mic for use as dispatch and public announcement. They were also used for singing and broadcasting. These 630 mics also have an omni-directional pattern. This isn't in the prettiest condition but it's much nicer than the few others I have come across.

 The stock painted housing has an olive green drab scheme. There is some typical heavier scratches and scuff marks as seen in the pictures provided. The mic is free of engravings, dents or dings and is 100% complete. The Auricon badge shows almost no wear and completely legible. The threads for the cable and stand are perfect with zero stripping. Overall this piece is physically a 6 + on a scale of 1 - 10 though some would rate higher.

 The joint mechanism has plenty of tension so you can get just the right angle needed on the head of the mic via a side screw on the lower joint mechanism.

 The short 7 inch cable is included and has the older screw on 3 pin type connection for the mic. The cable has a standard male Switchcraft XLR end connector. I built the cable myself so it's going to last for several decades. Simply leave the short cable on the mic at all time then attach any longer XLR cable as an extension to your audio equipment.
