Affordable cajons don’t get much more practical than the Meinl Percussion Woodcraft Series Pickup Cajon. It has a resonant 9mm shell made from Baltic birch — a material commonly used to make high-end guitar cabinets. This gives the cajon a musical maturity and the projection needed for recording applications. Inside the faceplate, fixed micro-coiled steel snare strings add a crisp and sensitive snap. Meinl equipped the Woodcraft Series Pickup Cajon with a 3-piezo pickup array, so you can take it onstage and plug straight into the PA. And for extra comfort, it has rounded corners that are gentle on your hands and legs.
