The "Sonny," a guitar famously owned by Keith Richards of The Rolling Stones, is as iconic as those of Micawber and Malcolm.
This particular instrument was ordered by Yamano Music Store during their time as an authorized Fender dealer and manufactured by the Fender Custom Shop.
While the original instrument is said to be a modified version of a Telecaster with a laminated maple fretboard produced between 1967 and 1968, this guitar features a modern logo, alder body, and one-piece maple neck. It boasts a humbucker (Seymour Duncan SH-1N) with an escutcheon mount in the neck position and an original Fender pickup in the bridge position.
The gold 6-way bridge, black pickguard, and sunburst finish are faithfully reproduced.
Except for the treble tuner and tone knob, the parts are original, and the neck is crafted from high-quality wood with a beautiful flame pattern.
Among the long history of the Custom Shop, guitars from this period, supervised by John Page, are highly sought after. This particular guitar, well-played and boasting a beautiful tone and a vintage look, is a must-try not only for Keith Richards fans but for anyone interested in trying one out.
