A rare Sun Patent starback Nottingham reel from Reuben Heaton with a very seldom seen bright Nickel/chrome plated finish to external metal parts of the reel and in the very seldom seen 2 1/2" size
4 screw Slater style latch , twin shaped/tapered bovine horn handles , plated Bickerdyke lineguard , brass lined backplate and brass flange to spool ( combination reel )
Unusual sprung wire check springs but appear to be correct (???) and chech works well
Word "sun" stamped on latch plate , with Patent number noted on backplate "star" leg as seen
Reel spins quite well for its age , foot blade has some "shape" to it as seen in photos and a single plated screw is missing from the star back as seen
A scarce reel for the collector or traditional fisher ......
