A dramatic and atmospheric scene depicting Avro Lancaster bombers of 617 Squadron (the Dambusters) on the tarmac at RAF Scampton on the evening of May 16, 1943. Ground crew prepares the aircraft as the famous “Green On, Go!” signal is about to launch them into history for Operation Chastise — the legendary raid on the Ruhr dams. The painting captures the tension, power, and anticipation of this iconic WWII mission with Robert Taylor’s trademark realism, lighting, and technical accuracy.
This print is a sought-after companion piece to Taylor’s larger “Operation Chastise” work. Norman Boorer’s signature adds significant historical value as he worked directly with Barnes Wallis on the famous “Upkeep” bouncing bomb.
Robert Taylor’s prints are in collections worldwide and are prized by aviation enthusiasts, historians, and serious art collectors for their detail and emotional impact.
